The Thrill of the Hunt
Your journey begins in the damp soil of the Motovun forest. Far from the crowds, you will join the Zigante or Karlić family (pioneers of the truffle industry) for a private demonstration. Watch the Lagotto Romagnolo dogs in action as they sniff out the precious tubers hidden underground. It is a primal, exciting, and muddy experience that connects you deeply with nature.
A Lunch to Remember at Konoba Mondo
After the hunt, we drive up the cobbles to the medieval town of Motovun. Here lies Konoba Mondo, a place where time stands still. You will enjoy a traditional 3-course truffle menu, featuring the dish that made them famous: handmade fuži pasta with a mountain of fresh truffles. As Anthony Bourdain said: "It's world-class food, world-class wine, world-class cheese.
The Art of Winemaking at Franc Arman
The afternoon is reserved for sophistication. We visit the Nardući estate, home to the Franc Arman family. Their modern winery, built into the hill, offers panoramic views of the vineyards. You will be guided through their barrique cellar, tasting aged Teran and fresh Malvasia, learning why Istrian wines are conquering the global stage.
The World’s Best Olive Oil at Ipša
Before we return, a stop at Ipša in Ipši/Oprtalj is mandatory. Once a hidden gem, now a global icon in the Flos Olei guide. You will learn to taste olive oil like a sommelier, discovering the peppery notes of Istarska Bjelica and Frantoio.
